Eddy & the Bear (Special)
Eddy loses his beloved teddy, Freddy, on the journey to his new home in the country. He hangs ‘missing’ posters and follows every clue to his whereabouts. Eddy eventually finds Freddy in the big dark wood. But he also meets a very big real Bear, who’s out looking for his own teddy!
Eddy runs away as fast as they can. He tries to tell his Mum about the big Bear who lives in the wood, but she doesn’t believe him….until Bear shows up for lunch at Eddy’s birthday picnic! Eddy and Bear soon discover that they are both lonely and longing to find a special friend to play with. And so begins a very unusual and ‘silly’ friendship.
The screenplay by Tony Collingwood, written entirely in rhyming couplets, was adapted for television from Jez Alborough’s trio of best-selling children’s books: Where’s My Teddy, It’s the Bear and My Friend Bear. It establishes the enduring friendship between Eddy and Bear at the heart of the associated 26-part animated series.
Narrated by Frances de la Tour with warmth and wit.
Music by Phillip Appleby.
Featuring the incredibly silly, ‘Silly Song,’ performed by Robert Lindsay as Bear and Rupert Garnsey as Eddy.
