Yoko! Jakamoko! Toto!

A celebration of friendship and the sheer joy of being alive!

Yoko, Jakamoko and Toto – a bird, an armadillo and a cheeky monkey – are best friends. As they explore their world, play together and make new friends, they experience all the joys and frustrations that first friendship has to offer. They face many problems too; from surviving an encounter with a scary crocodile, to being afraid of the dark and falling in love for the first time, but they always learn a lot about friendship and teamwork on the way.

The witty, vibrant adventures of Yoko! Jakamoko! Toto! are told largely through music and action, with no narrator and no conventional dialogue. The characters are brought to life by the amazing vocal talents of Alex Kelly, Gary Martin and Rob Rackstraw, through emotionally charged repetition of the character names, non verbal songs and much laughter.

The stunning musical soundtrack, composed by Roger Jackson drives the action forward, and always ends in a joyful celebration of achievement!

This truly original series draws upon traditional Spanish, Latin American and African art and music for its style and successfully combines a natural ‘arts and craft’ feel with fresh, innovative storytelling and contemporary, computer-based animation. Yoko! Jakamoko! Toto! was animated entirely at Collingwood’s London studio on Cel-Action 2D.

Created by Tony Collingwood and co-directed with Andrea Tran.
